Mendoza head-on collision death toll rises to five

A head-on collision on Route 60 in the Maipú department of Mendoza has resulted in five fatalities. The most recent victim, 52-year-old Martín Omar Tillar, passed away at Hospital Lagomaggiore after being hospitalized in serious condition since the accident on August 16.

Tillar was driving a Volkswagen T-Cross when it collided with a Peugeot 504. Initial investigations suggest the collision occurred when Tillar attempted to overtake another vehicle.

The accident claimed the lives of several members of Tillar's family, including his sister Ariadna Tillar, 54, and his nieces Rosario Masó Tillar and Juana Masó Tillar. The driver of the Peugeot 504, 48-year-old Oscar “Chacha” Fernández Mercau, also died following the impact. One other passenger, Florencia Bettalemmi, remained in intensive care.
