Mendoza municipalities implement prevention plans for Super Niño

Municipalities in the Mendoza region are implementing preventive measures in response to the anticipated “Super Niño” phenomenon. This climate event is expected to bring intense storms, torrential rains, and potential hail to the area between September 2026 and April 2027.

In Santa Rosa, authorities have launched an Integral Prevention and Early Warning Plan to strengthen response capacities for severe weather. Similarly, in Luján de Cuyo, Mayor Esteban Allasino met with municipal officials and specialists from Aeronáutica de Mendoza Sociedad Anónima (AEMSA) to coordinate planning. Luján de Cuyo is moving toward establishing a Municipal Emergency Operations Center to centralize monitoring and response efforts following technical simulations that indicate a high risk of flooding and severe storms.
