Menopause awareness highlights need for medical and workplace support

Recent discussions and medical insights emphasize the significant impact of menopause on women's physical and mental health, noting a widespread lack of information and support.

In Ruggell, Liechtenstein, a sold-out event organized by the Association for the Promotion of Holistic Health (FGG) addressed menopause from various perspectives, including hormonal changes, nutrition, and exercise. Experts highlighted that women should not simply endure symptoms and emphasized the importance of individualized medical guidance. The event also addressed the impact of menopause on the workplace, noting that experienced employees aged 40 to 59 are highly valuable to companies, yet symptoms can affect professional performance.

In Germany, Dr. Agnes Jacobs of the Frankfurt Menopause Center described menopause as a profound period of transition that is often overlooked by the medical system. Beyond common symptoms like hot flashes and sleep disturbances, she noted that many women experience psychological challenges such as anxiety, panic attacks, and depression, as well as physical issues including joint pain, heart palpitations, hair loss, and cognitive exhaustion, often referred to as ‘brain fog’.
