Menopause awareness initiatives highlight health impacts and community support

In observance of World Menopause Day, health experts and community events are highlighting the importance of addressing menopause-related symptoms. Dr. Susanna Unsworth of the brand INTIMINA is drawing attention to the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), a condition affecting up to 84% of postmenopausal women. GSM involves changes to the tissues of the vulva, vagina, and urinary system due to declining estrogen levels, leading to dryness, irritation, and urinary issues. Research indicates that nearly 40% of women with these symptoms have never discussed them with a healthcare professional.

In Rijeka, Croatia, the inaugural Menopause Day event is being held at the Hotel Continental on October 15 and 16. While the main program sessions are sold out, the exhibition space remains open to the public without registration. The event features lectures on physical and psychological changes, physical activity, and entrepreneurial potential for women over forty. The program includes contributions from medical professionals, psychologists, and artists to provide a holistic view of perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause.
