Men's mental health awareness walks and talks held in India and Uganda

A community walk titled “A Walk to Heal & Health: Men’s Mental Health Awareness” took place on June 20 at Pulie Badze, Jotsoma in Nagaland, India. Organized by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, the Lapiye Centre for Mental Well‑being, a college NSS unit and the local police, the event brought together church leaders, law‑enforcement officers, students and residents to promote open conversation about men’s mental health, challenge stigma and encourage help‑seeking. Speakers highlighted the need for safe spaces, healthy coping strategies and community resilience.

In Uganda, the eighth edition of Gilbey’s Hangouts was staged at Old Tymerz Kafunda in Ntinda, Kampala. Framed around Men’s Mental Health Month, the gathering offered an informal forum where participants discussed economic pressure, relationship stress and the importance of emotional support for men. Attendees quoted the rising cost of living as a driver of depression, while organizers emphasized creating judgment‑free environments that foster genuine connection.
