Men's obesity causes distinct health risks, study finds
Recent research shows that obesity in men follows a different disease pattern than in women. It is linked to testosterone deficiency, specific complications such as type‑2 diabetes, fatty liver and reduced sexual activity, and requires treatment approaches tailored to males.
The study cites the case of a 44‑year‑old taxi driver who, at 185 cm and 130 kg, developed a large abdomen, spinal pain, type‑2 diabetes and fatty‑liver disease. He reports difficulty following standard diet plans, limited exercise time, and is considering bariatric surgery or weight‑loss injections as possible solutions.
