Mental health challenges rise in Poland amid workplace stress and trauma
Recent data highlights significant mental health challenges in Poland, specifically regarding workplace stress and trauma. A report by ARC Rynek i Opinia reveals that 56% of Polish workers return home in a poor emotional state, often feeling drained of energy or emotionally exhausted. Primary stressors include excessive responsibilities (31%), time pressure (28%), and poor organizational structure (22%). The study notes that women are more likely than men to report that work stress negatively impacts their domestic relationships and increases conflict susceptibility.
Additionally, reports indicate that nearly one in five people in Poland exhibits symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a rate cited as being significantly higher than the global average. Psychological experts define trauma not merely as a negative event, but as a physiological and psychological reaction that exceeds an individual's ability to process the experience. This includes various forms such as single-event, chronic, developmental, and transgenerational trauma, which can manifest as chronic tension, sleep issues, and emotional dysregulation.
