MEP Monika Hohlmeier meets BBV Oberfranken to discuss EU agricultural reforms
The leadership team of the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV) in Upper Franconia met with European Parliament member Monika Hohlmeier to present regional agricultural concerns. The discussion focused on protecting FFH areas, promoting grassland use with cattle, increasing decision‑making powers for Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski, limiting the influence of the Environment Commissioner, reducing EU bureaucracy, suspending the 4 % compulsory land‑use reduction, extending the GAP after 2027 for competitive farms, and postponing the deforestation‑free supply‑chain law. Hohlmeier expressed understanding of the local farmers’ perspective, noting that recent protests have prompted a shift toward more pragmatic EU policy, and pledged to continue advocating for the region’s interests.
