Meralco implements ₱9.51 billion rebate and forecasts sales growth

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is implementing a ₱9.51 billion customer rebate following an order from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). The refund, which includes ₱9.01 billion in over-recovery and ₱496.07 million in interest, stems from a regulatory true-up process for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2025.

The rebate will be applied to residential bills over a six-month period starting with the August 2026 billing cycle. The refund will appear on statements under the line item “AWAT (Refund)/Collect,” with a residential rate of approximately ₱0.5861 per kWh. The credit is applied automatically to consumer accounts.

Separately, Meralco expects its energy sales volume to grow by 2% to 2.5% this year. While this is a slight reduction from the initial 3% forecast due to increased rooftop solar adoption and energy conservation efforts, it represents an improvement over previous years. The company reported a consolidated core net income of ₱26.5 billion for the first half of the year, a 3.8% increase from the previous year.
