Mercadona launches low-cost Portuguese-style prepared salad

Mercadona has introduced a new Portuguese-style salad to its ‘Listo para Comer’ (Ready to Eat) section. Priced at 1.70 euros per container, the product serves as a low-cost alternative to the retailer's standard prepared meals, which typically cost around 4 euros or more.

Unlike traditional Russian salad, this version omits potatoes and mayonnaise. Instead, cooked beans make up nearly 60% of the product. The recipe includes boiled eggs and tuna, seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, and white wine vinegar to provide a lighter texture.

The launch is part of a seasonal strategy by the Juan Roig-led company to strengthen its cold meal offerings during the summer months.
