Mercari bans sale of certain Pokémon Card Game 30th Anniversary products

Mercari, Inc. has implemented a temporary ban on the sale of certain Pokémon Card Game 30th Anniversary products, effective September 16. The restriction specifically targets unopened ‘30th CELEBRATION’ items and all nine types of card sets. However, individual single cards that have already been opened remain permitted for sale.

The company stated the decision aims to maintain a safe and secure marketplace by preventing market volatility, price fluctuations, and potential transaction troubles immediately following the product release.

Following the announcement, Mercari’s stock price experienced a sharp decline. Investors reacted to concerns that the restrictions might negatively impact revenue or signal potential issues regarding the safety and stability of the marketplace.
