Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series prototype catches fire during Nürburgring tests

A prototype of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series caught fire during intensive testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The incident occurred following a fast lap, with reports indicating the fire originated near the right-side exhaust system.

The driver managed to bring the vehicle to a stop at the AMG Test Center, traveling approximately 2.5 kilometers while the car emitted thick smoke. Mercedes-AMG employees and personnel from Manthey Racing intervened to extinguish the flames using five fire extinguishers. The driver was uninjured.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. The damaged prototype is being returned to Affalterbach for repairs, and testing for the new GT Black Series has been temporarily suspended while the cause is investigated.
