Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series prototype development
Overview
Development of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series prototype, internally designated as X192, has faced a setback during testing at the Nürburgring.
Initial reports indicated that the prototype, which features design updates such as a new lighting signature and revised aerodynamics, was moving closer to its production debut. However, during intensive testing, a prototype caught fire following a fast lap. The fire reportedly originated near the right-side exhaust system.
The driver was able to stop the vehicle at the AMG Test Center after traveling approximately 2.5 kilometers while emitting thick smoke. Personnel from Mercedes-AMG and Manthey Racing extinguished the flames. While the driver was uninjured, testing has been temporarily suspended while the cause of the fire is investigated and the vehicle is returned to Affalterbach for repairs.
