Mercedes-Benz adds new electric GLC and GLA SUV models in Europe
Mercedes‑Benz expanded its European electric‑SUV lineup with two new GLC models and a new GLA EQ. The GLC 250 electric is a rear‑wheel‑drive version with a 260 kW output and an estimated WLTP range of up to 650 km, while the GLC 300 4MATIC electric adds all‑wheel drive, a 310 kW output and up to 616 km of range. Both variants use an 85 kWh‑class battery and can recover about 265 km of driving distance in roughly ten minutes of fast charging. Prices start at €64,736 for the GLC 250 electric and €68,306 for the GLC 300 4MATIC electric, with production at Mercedes‑Benz’s Bremen plant on a three‑shift schedule.
At the same time, the brand introduced the GLA EQ, replacing the older EQA. Built on a new 800‑volt platform, the GLA EQ offers fast‑charging capabilities exceeding 320 kW, allowing several hundred kilometres of range to be added in ten minutes. Mercedes projects a maximum WLTP range of up to 700 km for the top‑end version, while a lower‑cost LFP‑battery variant is expected to deliver around 465 km. The model is positioned to compete directly with the Audi Q4 e‑tron and to challenge Chinese EV makers such as Zeekr and Denza.
