Mercedes-Benz begins mass production of new GLA

Mercedes-Benz has commenced mass production of the new GLA at its Rastatt plant in Germany. The production facility utilizes a flexible mixed-flow system, allowing both fully electric (BEV) and hybrid models to be manufactured on the same assembly line to adapt to market demand.

The new GLA features significant design and technological upgrades, including an expanded wheelbase and the MBUX Superscreen, which integrates multiple digital displays. The electric versions include the GLA 200 with a 58 kWh battery, the GLA 250+ with an 85 kWh battery, and the high-performance GLA 350 4MATIC.

To support this production, Mercedes-Benz has invested heavily in digital manufacturing technologies, such as digital twins and the MO360 production ecosystem. The supply chain for the new model involves various specialized units, including battery supply from AccuMore and electric drive units from the Untertürkheim plant.
