Mercedes-Benz delivers eActros 400 electric trucks with mechanical PTO to German waste firm AVG Köln
Mercedes-Benz Trucks handed over the first three eActros 400 tractor units equipped with a factory‑fitted mechanical power take‑off (mPTO) to AVG Köln, a municipal waste‑management company in Cologne, Germany. The vehicles will operate with Schwarzmüller tipping semi‑trailers under the BELLA project, transporting incinerator bottom ash from AVG Köln’s waste‑to‑energy plant to nearby processing facilities, replacing conventional diesel trucks.
Each eActros 400 carries two LFP battery packs with a combined capacity of 414 kWh, delivering a range of just under 400 km, reduced weight and lower purchase cost. Final integration, including the hydraulic system powered by the mPTO, is performed by Erkes Nutzfahrzeuge. AVG Köln is also establishing a 3,000 m² charging hub with nine commercial‑vehicle charging stations supplied directly from its waste‑to‑energy plant.
