Mercedes-Benz Japan expands S-Class lineup with new S500 models

Mercedes-Benz Japan has expanded its flagship S-Class lineup with the introduction of the S500 4MATIC (ISG) and the S500 4MATIC Long (ISG). These new models feature a 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline turbo engine, the improved M256 Evo, which delivers a maximum over-torque of 65.3 kg-m.

The updated S-Class includes significant exterior changes, such as a radiator grille that is approximately 20% larger than the previous version and the first-ever illuminated radiator grille for the S-Class. Interior technology has been enhanced with the proprietary MB.OS operating system and the fourth-generation MBUX system, featuring AI-driven virtual assistants and Google Maps-based navigation.

Additionally, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has received updates, including an extended long-wheelbase version that increases rear passenger space by 180mm. The Maybach lineup offers V8 mild-hybrid and V12 twin-turbo powertrains, with prices starting from 34.15 million yen. The standard S500 models are priced between 17.08 million and 21.36 million yen.
