Mercedes‑Benz launches third‑generation electric GLA SUV
Mercedes‑Benz unveiled the third‑generation GLA as an electric‑first compact SUV. The launch offers three battery‑electric variants – the entry‑level GLA 200 (165 kW, 58 kWh LFP battery), the rear‑wheel‑drive GLA 250+ (200 kW, 85 kWh NMC battery) and the all‑wheel‑drive GLA 350 4MATIC (260 kW, dual‑motor). Mercedes claims a WLTP driving range of up to 657 km for the top models.
The new GLA sits on an 800‑volt architecture that can accept DC fast charging of up to 320 kW, which the manufacturer says adds roughly 270 km of range in a ten‑minute charge. Compared with the previous generation the vehicle is 20 mm lower, its wheelbase is stretched to 2 790 mm (61 mm longer), and boot capacity rises to 410 L (1 400 L with the rear seats folded). An optional MBUX Superscreen combines a 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, a 14‑inch central touchscreen and an optional 14‑inch passenger display.
Orders opened on 30 July 2026 and the first deliveries are scheduled for November 2026 in Europe, with prices ranging from about €46 900 for the base GLA 200 to roughly €58 000 for the top‑spec GLA 350 4MATIC. Hybrid versions that pair a 1.5‑litre turbo‑charged engine with a 48‑volt mild‑hybrid system are slated for early 2027, and a regional report suggests the fully electric GLA will reach the UAE later this year.
