Mercedes drops appeal on Russell's Monaco penalty and refutes rumored Verstappen offer

Mercedes announced it has withdrawn its request for a review of the penalty imposed on George Russell after the Monaco Grand Prix. The team said discussions with the FIA and Formula 1 confirmed that continuing the appeal would not benefit the sport or the team.

Separately, former driver Ralf Schumacher claimed Mercedes had made a low‑ball offer to Max Verstappen for 2027, which the Dutch champion rejected. The same commentary highlighted that Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli earns a salary of about $2 million per year.

Both statements were made in the context of ongoing debates over penalties and driver contracts within Formula 1.
