Mercedes eActros electric trucks deployed by UK retailer and start series production in Germany

Wren Kitchens has taken delivery of ten Mercedes‑Benz eActros 600 electric trucks as the first phase of its Positive Planet roadmap to reach net‑zero emissions by 2030. Funded by the UK Department for Transport’s Zero Emission HGV programme, the trucks feature a 621 kWh battery, a range of 500–750 km and can charge from 20 % to 80 % in about an hour. The company expects the fleet to cut about 580 tonnes of CO₂ each year. Phil Bennett, the retailer’s national fleet manager, said, “Maintaining our industry‑leading delivery performance while improving safety and reducing emissions is critical.”

Separately, Daimler Truck has begun series production of the battery‑electric Mercedes eActros LongHaul at its Wörth‑am‑Rhein plant in Germany. The model is designed for European long‑haul freight with a target range of roughly 500 km per charge, an 800‑volt architecture, lithium‑iron‑phosphate batteries and fast‑charging capability via CCS and future megawatt‑scale chargers. The launch aims to provide a viable zero‑emission alternative for heavy‑duty transport fleets across Europe.
