Mercedes will not appeal Antonelli's five‑second penalty at British Grand Prix

Mercedes announced after an internal review that it will not contest the five‑second penalty imposed on driver Kimi Antonelli for repeated track‑limits violations at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. The sanction, applied after Antonelli's fourth breach, dropped him from ninth place to 16th, costing him two championship points. The team had initially considered an appeal, citing a mechanical failure – a broken front‑left wheel deflector that compromised steering. However, stewards ruled that the technical issue did not justify leaving the track, reinforcing the FIA rule that a fourth breach carries an automatic five‑second penalty.
