Mersin Cinema Office to promote city at Spanish film marketplace

The Mersin Cinema Office (MSO), operating under the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, will represent Mersin at the Shooting Locations Marketplace 2026 in Valladolid, Spain, on October 14-15, 2026. As the only cinema office from Turkey to be a member of the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), MSO aims to promote the city's diverse filming environments to the international film industry.

During the event, MSO will showcase Mersin’s natural, historical, and cultural assets, ranging from Mediterranean coasts and the Taurus Mountains to ancient cities and modern urban landscapes. The office provides essential support for film and television productions, including location research, permit processes, coordination with public institutions, logistics, and field support.

In addition to its international promotion efforts, MSO recently supported the first feature film it assisted, ‘Kesilmiş Bir Ağaç Gibi’ (Like a Cut Tree), directed by Tunç Davut. The film was selected as Turkey’s official candidate for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
