Mersin furniture store destroyed by four-story building fire

A fire broke out at a four-story furniture manufacturing and retail store in the Mezitli district of Mersin. The blaze spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable furniture and materials, consuming a large portion of the building.

Emergency responders, including 15 fire engines, 6 TOMA vehicles, 12 water supply vehicles, and 7 water tenders, worked under the coordination of AFAD and the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department. The fire also spread to an adjacent residential building and damaged a vehicle, prompting intensified efforts to prevent further spread.

After approximately 2.5 hours of intervention, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. The building has been rendered largely unusable and is described as being in a state of ruin. There were reports of two individuals being inside the store when the fire started, though their current status was not immediately confirmed.
