Furniture workshop and store fires in Turkey

Overview

In early September, a fire broke out in a three-story furniture workshop in the Buca district of İzmir. The blaze spread quickly due to flammable materials, resulting in the destruction of one house and one workplace, along with damage to three other businesses. A family of four was evacuated and placed under medical observation, though no fatalities were reported.

Later in the month, a fire occurred at a four-story furniture manufacturing and retail store in the Mezitli district of Mersin. The fire consumed a large portion of the building, rendering it largely unusable, and spread to an adjacent residential building and a vehicle. While responders brought the blaze under control after approximately 2.5 hours, the status of two individuals reported to be inside the store at the start of the fire was not immediately confirmed.
