Mersin launches 15 summer projects under “Mega Yaz” program

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has begun its “Mega Yaz” summer investment programme, planning to implement 15 projects across the city before the end of the season. The initiatives cover transport, infrastructure, sport, education, culture‑arts and social life. Key works include the Şelale Culture, Art and Social Life Centre in Tarsus, a collective‑housing scheme for low‑ and middle‑income families, the Kent Meydanı public square in Mezitli, the Müftü Deresi Living Valley green space, and the Mezitli Vatan‑Kuyuluk integrated interchange to improve traffic safety. Water and wastewater infrastructure will be upgraded through MESKİ projects such as the Tömük‑Arpaçbahşiş sewer line, Atıksu treatment plant and new drinking‑water networks, strengthening services for a growing population.

In parallel, General Manager Ahmet Gülşen inspected the construction progress of the Çeşmeli‑Erdemli‑Silifke‑Taşucu highway section and the Akdeniz Sahil Yolu coastal road, reviewing physical completion rates and confirming that work is on schedule. These inspections are part of the broader effort to accelerate major road works that support the summer projects and improve regional connectivity.
