Messina councilor Libero Gioveni urges provision of wheelchair beach chairs
Libero Gioveni, a city councilor for Fratelli d’Italia in Messina, says people with mobility impairments are unable to bathe at the sea because the municipality has not supplied the required JOB wheelchair‑accessible beach chairs. He denounced the administration’s inaction, noting that in previous years local associations had stepped in to provide the chairs for beach sites.
Giovani explained that a request for the chairs was raised with the city’s Blue Flag Office about a month ago, but as of mid‑June the procurement process had not been initiated. He called the delay unacceptable and asked that the city accelerate the purchase so the chairs can be placed at requested beach facilities and public beaches within a week.
