Italian healthcare faces staffing shifts and regional challenges

Various regional healthcare developments are occurring across Italy, focusing on staffing, administrative disputes, and patient care.

In Salerno, the Asl Salerno is hiring 30 nurses from a pool of 2,009 candidates to address seasonal shortages. In Piedmont, Azienda Zero has opened a competition for 65 permanent nursing positions in emergency-urgency services. Meanwhile, in Orvieto, the Santa Maria della Stella hospital is set to hire four doctors, including pediatricians and surgeons.

Administrative and labor issues persist in other regions. In Caserta, the Asl is facing criticism from the Cisl union regarding the management of 118 emergency services. In Messina, the Fp Cgil union praised staff at the Irccs Neurolesi for their responsibility during the temporary closure of the Piemonte hospital emergency room.

On a more critical note, a manslaughter investigation has been opened in Ravenna following the death of a 76-year-old woman who had visited the Faenza emergency room multiple times. Additionally, reports from Veneto highlight an escalation of violence against healthcare workers in emergency departments.
