Messina Hospital Overhauls Service Contracts for 226 Workers Amid Nurse Stabilizations

The management of the University Hospital Policlinico Gaetano Martino in Messina signed a new service contract that transfers cleaning duties to G.S.I. and porter (facchinaggio) duties to S.A.F., involving a total of 226 employees. The outgoing contractor, Coopservice, has not yet supplied required documentation, including the last four pay slips, prompting union Filcams CGIL to raise concerns about possible contract parameter changes and to call for clarity before individual contracts are finalized.

At the same time, the CISL FP union reported that the hospital administration agreed to fully stabilize 55 nurses who had submitted applications, as well as allocate two driver positions, with plans to identify further eligible staff throughout the year. Union leaders highlighted the importance of the negotiated outcome for workers, families, and the broader health system.
