Messina Mayor Federico Basile prepares summer beaches and backs local tennis tournament

Mayor Federico Basile met with the Federation of Beach Enterprises and local beach operators to set a shared programme for Messina’s summer season, emphasizing safety, rule compliance and tourist appeal. He said the summer is a vital economic resource and that cooperation between the municipality and beach businesses will ensure an organised, attractive and livable coastline.

Later in the week Basile attended the final of the ITF Messina tennis event, which recorded about 3,500 spectators. The tournament highlighted local talent, with Sicilian players reaching the final, and the club used the occasion to promote tennis in the region. Both initiatives showcase the city’s effort to combine sport, leisure and tourism for residents and visitors.
