Messina municipal council installs new Prima Municipalità leadership as Basile government nears formation

The Prima Municipalità of Messina began its term with the swearing‑in of a new district council. Mayor Federico Basile highlighted the significance, noting it covers many villages. Enzo Messina was elected one of six presidents from the Sud chiama Nord list, and the council will work to address local needs.

In parallel, Basile’s new municipal administration is being finalized. Six incumbent assessors — Alessandra Calafiore, Liana Cannata, Antonino Carreri, Vincenzo Caruso, Massimo Finocchiaro and Massimiliano Minutoli — have been confirmed, and a youth policy assessor will be chosen from under‑45 and under‑35 lists, possibly Beatrice Mellini. The arrangements are seen as a continuation of the city’s monocolor majority.
