Messinia police operation arrests 40, seizes cocaine, cannabis and electricity‑theft evidence
On Tuesday 7 July 2026 the Greek police carried out a coordinated operation across the Peloponnese, focusing on the regional units of Argolis, Arcadia, Corinth, Laconia and Messinia. Officers checked 772 individuals (697 Greeks, 75 foreigners) and 613 vehicles, summoned 58 people and detained 40 suspects.
In Messinia the arrests involved drug offences – a small amount of cocaine and several grams of cannabis were seized – as well as electricity‑theft, a neglect‑of‑minor case, violations of health regulations and a punitive court document. Specific seizures included 0.3 g cannabis, 0.7 g cannabis, 1 g cocaine and 9.7 g cannabis packaged separately. The operation also recorded 216 traffic‑code violations and resulted in the impoundment of one vehicle. All detainees were transferred to the appropriate local prosecutors. Police said the actions aim to deter crime and reinforce public safety, and similar raids will continue throughout the Peloponnese.
