Meta advances data center campus project in Talavera de la Reina

The development of the Meta Data Center Campus in Talavera de la Reina, Castilla-La Mancha, has reached a critical administrative milestone. Zarza Networks S. L., a subsidiary of Meta, has fulfilled a key requirement by establishing a guarantee linked to the monetization of 49% of the municipal urban development rights.

This step follows the definitive approval of the land re-parceling project by the regional Ministry of Development in August 2026. With the guarantee in place, the project moves toward full legal coverage, allowing Meta to present final construction plans and apply for necessary building licenses.

The project is expected to involve an initial investment of 750 million euros, with total costs potentially exceeding 1 billion euros as different phases are executed across the 191-hectare site. Economically, the operational phase is projected to create 250 high-skilled direct jobs and approximately 780 indirect jobs annually within the regional supply chain. The construction phase is also expected to generate significant local employment.
