Meta donates 1,000 AI glasses to Singapore disability community

Meta has announced the donation of 1,000 Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to four Singaporean organizations to support individuals with disabilities. The recipients include the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), Guide Dogs Singapore, the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC), and Gardens by the Bay.

In addition to the hardware, Meta is providing a US$30,000 grant to SAVH to develop and implement a free accessibility curriculum. This training will focus on teaching users how to utilize voice commands, read text aloud, identify objects, and describe their surroundings using the AI-integrated eyewear.

The initiative aims to enhance independence for people with visual impairments. Organizations like Gardens by the Bay plan to explore how the technology can improve visitor experiences, while SAVH will focus on ensuring the devices are integrated safely and responsibly into the lives of their clients.
