Meta and EssilorLuxottica AI eyewear expansion

Overview

EssilorLuxottica and Meta have expanded their AI-powered eyewear portfolio into ten new international markets, including Poland, Portugal, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The rollout features third-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses, camera-free audio models, and Meta-branded styles such as Capri and Nova, including models designed by LISA. While hardware is expanding globally, certain software features like the Muse personal AI agent and Hearing Enhancement remain restricted to the United States.

In Asia, the commercial rollout continues with specific regional availability. In Thailand, the launch includes Ray-Ban Meta models (Wayfarer, Aviator, and Zena) and Oakley Meta designs (HSTN and Vanguard) tailored for active lifestyles. In Japan, the retailer Aigan has begun selling Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) at select locations, with prices starting from 78,980 yen. In Malaysia, sales of Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), and Oakley Meta models are scheduled to begin on October 20, 2026, with prices starting from RM2,069.

Meta has also utilized this technology for accessibility. In Singapore, the company is donating 1,000 Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to organizations including the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped to assist individuals with disabilities, supported by a US$30,000 grant. In the United States, a partnership with the American Council of the Blind provides free glasses and training to legally blind veterans in South Carolina.
