Meta expands Muse AI agent to Mac and Canada
Meta has rapidly expanded its AI agent, Muse, following a successful initial launch in the United States. The agent, which has already reached nearly 600,000 downloads in its first five days, is now available on macOS, iOS, Android, and the web. Muse distinguishes itself from traditional chatbots by acting as a personal assistant capable of executing complex tasks such as booking travel, managing calendars, sending emails, and filling out forms.
To facilitate commerce, Muse integrates with Stripe Link, allowing it to make purchases on behalf of users. Cover Genius provides purchase protection for eligible transactions made by the agent for U.S. consumers. The service follows a freemium model, offering basic capabilities for free while providing premium tiers ranging from $20 to $100 per month.
Meta has addressed privacy and security concerns by implementing Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual machine that isolates user data. The company has also stated that Muse interactions and data are not shared with its advertising systems. Additionally, Meta is pursuing an open-weight strategy, recently releasing Muse Glimmer, a 30-billion-parameter model designed to run locally on consumer hardware to reduce data center reliance and enhance privacy.
