Meta introduces AI tools Horizon Create and Studio for game development
Meta has introduced two new artificial intelligence-driven tools, Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, designed to allow users to develop 2D and 3D video games using natural language text commands. Unveiled at Meta Connect 2026, these tools aim to lower the barrier to game development by removing the need for specialized technical skills or expensive hardware.
Horizon Create is a mobile application intended for rapid game creation. Users can start from scratch or use templates, describing their ideas via text to have the AI generate initial game versions. Horizon Studio is a web-based application providing more granular control, allowing users to manually adjust scenes, swap assets, and edit script parameters alongside text instructions. Projects can be transitioned seamlessly between the mobile and web environments.
Built on the Meta Horizon Engine, the tools enable the creation of complete games featuring progression systems, difficulty balancing, and multiplayer capabilities. Once created, games can be published directly to Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon. On Instagram, players can join multiplayer sessions instantly through the feed without downloading additional applications. Meta stated that all generated content will undergo safety reviews and automatic age rating assignments before publication.
