Meta AI game development tool release

Overview

At the Meta Connect 2026 conference, Meta unveiled two AI-powered tools, Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, designed to facilitate 2D and 3D game development through natural language prompts. These tools aim to lower technical barriers by allowing users to generate playable experiences, including progression systems and multiplayer modes, without traditional programming skills.

Honizon Create serves as a mobile application for rapid creation, while Horizon Studio provides a web-based platform for more granular control over scene arrangement and script parameters. Both tools utilize the Meta Horizon Engine, allowing creators to transition projects between mobile and web environments.

Developed games can be published directly to Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon. On Instagram, users can join multiplayer sessions via their feeds without additional downloads. Meta noted that all generated content will undergo safety reviews and automatic age rating assignments prior to publication. Additionally, Meta is preparing a lightweight VR device, expected to launch in spring 2027.
