Meta launches AI-themed experiential pop-up store in Shibuya
Meta has launched a unique experiential event in Shibuya, Tokyo, titled ‘Meta AI Convenience Store.’ Running from August 28 to August 30, the pop-up shop is intentionally designed to be ‘the world’s most inconvenient convenience store’ to demonstrate the utility of Meta AI.
Participants encounter various obstacles, such as products with unreadable packaging or staff members who only speak Spanish. By using the Meta AI app and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, visitors can overcome these challenges through real-time translation, identifying product flavors via photos, and generating images to unlock items.
Masahiro Ajisawa, Representative Director of Meta Japan, stated that AI is a primary focus for the company. He noted that while Meta AI is already available on platforms like Instagram and Messenger, this physical event aims to show how the technology can seamlessly support daily life and provide practical convenience.
