Meta launches Muse AI agent to perform autonomous tasks
Meta has launched Muse, a new personal AI agent designed to perform autonomous tasks rather than just answering questions. Currently available in the United States, the agent can navigate the web, book travel, manage emails, fill out forms, and make purchases. Unlike traditional chatbots, Muse can develop a plan for a goal and continue working in the background even after the user closes the application.
To ensure security, Muse operates within a dedicated cloud-based environment called Muse Secure VM and is overseen by a secondary system named Sentinel, which monitors its internet access and actions. For financial transactions, Meta has integrated Stripe’s Link service, which uses single-use virtual cards to protect user payment details.
The service is being rolled out across iOS, Android, and the web, with plans for integration into Meta’s smart glasses. While a free version is available, Meta is also offering premium subscription tiers priced at $20 and $100 per month. Early data shows the app has already achieved significant traction, reaching the No. 2 spot on the US App Store with over 83,000 iOS downloads shortly after launch.
