Meta launches Muse AI agent in Japan

Meta has officially launched its personal AI agent, Muse, in Japan, marking the first region outside of North America to receive the service. Available on iOS, Android, and via web browsers, Muse is designed to act as a digital assistant that performs tasks rather than just answering questions.

Users can instruct Muse to manage schedules, send emails, or book travel. The agent can operate autonomously, continuing tasks even after the app is closed, and will request user confirmation before performing critical actions like making purchases or sending messages. To ensure security, Muse operates within a dedicated cloud environment called ‘Muse Secure VM’ and uses a ‘Sentinel’ agent to manage internet access.

In Japan, Meta plans to integrate Muse with local services including Mercari, Money Forward ME, and Ticket Pia, in addition to global integrations with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Instagram. While many basic features are free, Meta offers subscription plans for enhanced capabilities.
