Meta provides AI smart glasses to blind veterans in Columbia

Meta is launching a national artificial intelligence accessibility initiative in Columbia, South Carolina, in partnership with the American Council of the Blind. The program provides free Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses and specialized training to legally blind veterans at the South Carolina Commission for the Blind.

The initiative aims to equip over 130,000 legally blind American veterans with AI-powered eyewear to support greater independence. The glasses feature integrated cameras, open-ear speakers, and voice-activated AI capable of reading printed materials aloud, identifying objects, and describing surroundings to assist users with vision loss.
