Four families from Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota and Tennessee filed a wrongful‑death lawsuit in the Superior Court of Delaware on behalf of their children – Livi Castro (13), Riv Kelleher (14), Nathaniel Chambers (17) and Dawson Holden (18) – who died by suicide between July 2024 and September 2025. The complaint, brought by the Social Media Victims Law Center and its founding attorney Matthew Bergman, alleges that the platforms operated by Meta, TikTok, Snap (Snapchat) and YouTube (Google) are addictive and caused years of escalating harms, including severe sleep deprivation, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. The lawsuit claims the companies knew their products were harming young users. Representatives of Meta, TikTok and Snap did not respond to comment requests; Google issued a statement expressing sympathy and noting its safety efforts. The case adds to a growing wave of litigation against major tech firms and follows the Senate’s passage of the Kids Online Safety Act two years earlier, a bill the House has yet to vote on.
