Metaplanet transfers $188 million in Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime

Metaplanet has transferred 1,350 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $108 million, to Coinbase Prime. This movement follows a previous transfer of 1,000 BTC to the same platform on August 25. In total, the company moved 2,350 BTC, worth about $188 million, over a four-day period. This amount represents roughly 5.5% of Metaplanet’s total holdings of 43,000 BTC.

While the transfers have drawn attention, there is no blockchain evidence or company statement confirming that the assets were sold. Metaplanet’s CEO, Simon Gerovich, previously clarified that large movements between wallets were for custody purposes rather than sales. The company maintains a significant Bitcoin treasury and has expressed a long-term goal of reaching 210,000 BTC by 2027.
