Meteora-Pyli Geopark launches environmental and tourism initiatives

The Meteora-Pyli Geopark is conducting a series of initiatives focused on environmental awareness and regional economic development. In observance of World Cleanup Day, students from Pyli Elementary School participated in a symbolic cleaning action at the Agiou Vissarion stone bridge in the Portaikou Valley, a designated geosite of the Geopark.

In conjunction with World Tourism Day, the Geopark will host an event titled ‘Geotourism Development and Local Partnerships’ on September 29 in Kalabaka. The meeting aims to foster dialogue with tourism professionals, including accommodation providers, tour guides, and local businesses, to explore how geotourism can create new economic opportunities and integrate the region’s natural, cultural, and gastronomic identity into the visitor experience.
