Magnitude 3.7 quake rattles Iwate coast, no tsunami risk

A shallow earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 occurred off the coast of Iwate Prefecture at about 05:02 local time on 26 June 2026. The hypocentre was 40 km deep and the maximum reported seismic intensity was Shindo 1, recorded in Iwate and Aomori prefectures. No tsunami was generated and no damage or injuries were reported.
