MetMalaysia issues widespread thunderstorm and heavy rain warnings

MetMalaysia has issued widespread warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across much of Malaysia. The weather alerts affect numerous states, including Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor.

Specific regions under alert include various districts in Kedah such as Langkawi and Kubang Pasu, as well as several areas in Perak and Selangor. In East Malaysia, warnings extend to parts of Sarawak, including Bintulu, Miri, and Sibu, and Sabah, covering the West Coast, Interior, and Sandakan regions.

The warnings are issued for conditions where rainfall intensity is expected to exceed 20 mm per hour for at least one hour. Some alerts are expected to remain in effect until 6:00 PM, while others may persist until 9:00 PM.
