Metro Pacific Tollways reports revenue growth amid merger plans and NLEX flood response

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) reported an 8 percent increase in toll revenues to P19.6 billion during the first half of 2026. This growth was driven by an expanding road network in the Philippines and stronger operations in Indonesia, despite a 1 percent decline in average daily vehicle entries in the Philippine market.

The revenue boost comes as MPTC prepares for a major merger with San Miguel Corp. (SMC), which is expected to be finalized by the end of the year. Under the proposed deal, SMC could hold approximately 55 percent ownership of the combined tollway company, with Ramon Ang expected to lead the entity.

Separately, MPTC is addressing severe flooding on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Tulaoc, San Simon, Pampanga, caused by heavy monsoon rains. The company is deploying temporary flood barriers, siphoning trucks, and intensified pumping operations to mitigate traffic congestion. Local officials reported that approximately 95 percent of San Simon was submerged. For a long-term solution, MPTC plans to further raise the pavement in the affected Tulaoc area.
