Metro Pacific Tollways business and operational updates
Overview
Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) reported an 8 percent increase in toll revenues, reaching P19.6 billion during the first half of 2026. This growth was attributed to an expanding road network in the Philippines and stronger operations in Indonesia, even as average daily vehicle entries in the Philippine market saw a 1 percent decline.
The company is currently preparing for a major merger with San Miguel Corp. (SMC), which is expected to conclude by the end of the year. Under the proposed arrangement, SMC could hold approximately 55 percent ownership of the merged entity, with Ramon Ang expected to lead the company.
In response to severe flooding on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Pampanga caused by heavy monsoon rains, MPTC is deploying flood barriers, siphoning trucks, and intensified pumping operations. To address the issue long-term, the company plans to raise the pavement in the affected Tulaoc area.
