Metro Vancouver transit workers ratify contract, averting strike

Transit workers in Metro Vancouver have voted to ratify a new collective agreement with the Coast Mountain Bus Company, successfully averting a strike that was scheduled for later this week. Members of Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 voted 68 per cent in favor of the deal.

The agreement addresses key operational concerns, including running time, recovery time, and electronic service sheets. A new Letter of Understanding stipulates that any failure by either party to adhere to these terms will be referred directly to a mediator for resolution.

With the ratification of this deal, all previously authorized job actions have ended and the September 23 strike deadline has been lifted. The agreement is subject to official ratification by the Coast Mountain Bus Company Board of Directors.
