Overview

Labour disputes involving various workers in Metro Vancouver have moved toward resolution. In August, outside workers representing the Greater Vancouver Regional District Employees' Union halted job action, including picketing at regional parks and water treatment facilities, to enter binding arbitration. By late September, transit workers represented by Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 successfully averted a scheduled strike by ratifying a new collective agreement with the Coast Mountain Bus Company. The deal, which passed with 68 per cent support, addressed operational concerns like running and recovery time. The ratification lifted the September 23 strike deadline and ended all previously authorized job actions.
